Phone Homer! is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #215.

Synopsis[edit]

"What Would Homer Do? Now all you need to do is ask your smart phone's personal assistant and navigating system, and you, too, can be like Homer Simpson! And with everyone going around town asking WWHD?, Homer is having an identity crisis of his own. And if that wasn't enough, Marge finds a new calling as the new Springfield Courthouse sketch artist."

Plot[edit]

Otto can't understand the voice of his GPS, and drives off-road. Professor Frink realizes that his Frinkophonic GPS is a failure because his voice is too intelligent for a person with normal IQ to understand. Frink must find a new voice to his Frinkophonic Operating System for Phones, and he chooses Homer. Soon when the residents of Springfield start using their voice search on their phone, they are instructed by Homer's voice. When Lenny asks where the nearest laundromat is located, Homer tells him to use Flanders' washing machine. When Seymour Skinner asks what to do after eating at Krusty Burger, he tells him to eat another one, and when Barney asks where the library is, he tells him to go to Moe's instead.

Marge is helping Apu catch a shoplifter by drawing a phantom picture of him, because he lent his security camera to Sanjay. Marge hires Clancy Wiggum as a courthouse sketch artist, and the old artist, Matt Groening, is fired. Homer visits Moe's, but it is crowded so he goes to Krusty Burger instead, but Krusty Burger is also crowded so he goes to Lard Lad Donuts, which is also crowded. After her first day at the courthouse, Professor Lombardo suggests that Marge should have a showcase of her court drwaings. The next day, Moe's is crowded again, so Homer goes to Emo's but does not like it and goes to work. Marge is popular and the criminals are competing to have her paint portraits of them. That night at dinner, Marge is not home so Homer takes the kids to a restaurant because he got a raise for working hard. Marge begins working full time and Homer begins to take care of the household. Meanwhile, the residents of Springfield continue to follow Homer's advice on their phones.

A few days later when Marge goes to the courthouse, she discovers it's Eat and Nap Day after Mayor Quimby has made it a law. Marge remembers that Homer invented the day, and when she leaves the courthouse, she realizes that everyone is acting like Homer. Marge goes home to get an explanation and after Lisa has done some research, she confronts Professor Frink, who stole Homer's voice for his phone system. Frink decides to replace the voice with Marge's voice, and the residents begin to follow her advice when they use their phones instead. Moe's becomes empty again and Homer starts goofing off at work again. Marge does one last job as a courthouse sketch artist before she becomes a housewife again.
