Transcripts?

Hi, I am thinking of adding some transcripts later - if that's alright with you? Simpsons Crazy has a whole lot of them, so we can just copy them over and reformat them. I was also thinking of designing a template (similar to the one that's been created linking character galleries etc.) which would say: "Wikisimpsons has a transcript of this episode here" or something? What do you think. I was also thinking of perhaps creating a Project: Transcripts so more people could help out? A project for transcripts itself is a bit too much. A sub-section of Project Episodes would suffice though. We have a few transcripts (Category:Transcripts) so if you can set them up similar to those then that would be good. Feel free to steal the code I used for the image template too.

Sourcing

When it comes to sourcing statements to episodes, most articles here use the <ref></ref> method. However, I think it would be more efficient if we employed the method used by lostpedia where they have the episode title right after the statement (example). I guess one problem is that the titles for Simpsons episodes are generally longer, so they would be more intrusive, but I still think it would be better than what is done now. -- Brian McClure 16:41, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

I have never liked that idea and as you say, it will make articles longer and be more intrusive. I don't see anything wrong with the references being under the references section though. Why fix something that isn't broke? ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 19:05, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Well, it's all about convenience. Image that you have no familiarity with The Simpsons (ie. a wikia editor), and you're reading through a paragraph with ten refs. Every time you want to find out which episode the sentence is talking about, you have to click the ref, go to the bottom of the page, and find the episode. However, if we included the episodes in the text, then it would be right there. It might not matter for the smaller pages, but think about when Homer's page is properly cleaned up and there will be over a hundred episodes referenced. It would certainly make reading much more difficult if you had to keep clicking the reference links. And, it doesn't even have to be the full episode title. In cases like $pringfield, we can just use a shortened version of the title, and in cases like Marge vs. Singles, Seniors, Childless Couples and Teens, and Gays, we can still link it but shorten it to "Marge vs SSCCTG". -- Brian McClure 00:56, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

Something Screwy With A Couple Pages

For some reason on a couple pages,Simpsons Comics and Bart Stops to Smell The Roosevelts, the search bar and the stuff below it, that are supposed to be on the left-hand side of the page are on top of part of the article on those two pages. Hannigan, M.F.A. Image

I've uploaded the image from Hannigan, M.F.A. It's the only Tube Town show where I haven't yet figured out what it's supposed to be parodying, so I decided to upload the image and share the link with my Gamut Chat colleagues to see if they'd have any luck with it. So the image is temporarily up there as an orphan, but it shouldn't remain so for long. If I don't have any more info in a day or so, I'm going to just make a "stub" article for Hannigan so it's done with. The consensus at Gamut Chat is that Hannigan is a parody of Columbo, and one of the users cited some pretty compelling reasons for coming to that conclusion. The Prevnext template, the border was an accident which no one has gotten around to changing yet. The tabs though look a lot better than before and will therefore be staying.
