- The episode title is a reference to Heartless.
- Milhouse reads Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
- Charlotte's Web History is a parody of Charlotte's Web.
- Everyone Sometimes Has Dry Skin is a parody of Everybody Poops.
- If You Give a Mouse a Bookie is a parody of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.
- Where the Mild Wings Are is a parody of Where the Wild Things Are.
- Ralph drawing with purple crayon is a reference to Harold and the Purple Crayon.
- Springfield Elementary School accidentally stocked Matthew Perry's autobiography. Perry released an autobiography called Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing in 2022.
- "Morgenblätter, Op. 279" by Johann Strauss II plays during the scene of Homer and Marge getting ready for the day and the first morning Bart is there for.
- St. Shondaland Animal Hospital is a reference to Shondaland, the production company that made Grey's Anatomy. All the scandals happening between staff members at the hospital are also a reference to Grey's Anatomy.
