Cultural references
- Since the story is about an egging prank, it is possible that the story title refers to the free range method of raising poultry, where the birds are permitted to move about relatively freely (albeit within a defined area) rather than being confined to cages.
- The title might also be referring to a bombing range: In stealing the Duff Blimp and using it to egg people with near-impunity, the bullies are essentially turning Springfield into their own bombing range.
- Helen Lovejoy's organization, Mothers Against Any And All Antisocial Delinquency (M.A.A.A.A.A.D.), is a parody of Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
Trivia
- Squishees evidently now come in caffeinated varieties:
- Apu offers Principal Skinner "our brand new mocha squishee latte".
- Skinner declines and asks for his usual "squishee-ccino" instead.
