- After he initially decides to kill Bart, Cecil quickly dismisses the notion, likening it to Jim Belushi's appearance in Blues Brothers 2000 as an example of someone being stuck in the shadow of their brother.
- The line "chickity China the Chinese chicken, you have a drumstick and your brain stops tickin' " that Mr. Largo sings is from the song "One Week" by the Barenaked Ladies.
- As part of his campaign to destroy Lisa Simpson, Cecil Terwilliger blackmails Krusty into going off the air with the aid of the nerd trio of Gary, Benjamin and Doug. As a reward, Cecil gives them tickets to William Shatner's Star Trek Memories: The Musical, starring Richard Hatch from Battlestar Galactica.
