American History F is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #209.

Synopsis

"Bart's latest municipal felony leads to empty coffers at city hall and a huge cut in the public school budget. The call for volunteer civil servants leads to the hiring of Springfield's most dynamic public school teacher in years -- Abraham Simpson! And it doesn't take long before he catches the eye of other highly placed, civic-minded leaders who set the Simpsons septuagenarian on a road to seeking even higher public office!"

Plot

Bart discovers that the mainframe for Springfield's roads will cause panic and the Springfield bridges collapse. To pay the damages, all the teachers are fired from the school and they need a substitute teacher. Grampa decides to teach history at Springfield Elementary School. Bart starts to disguise him so they can capture him for the damages. On Abe's first day as the substitute teacher, he doesn't like the history books and starts to speak from his own memory instead. Abe's story becomes popular among all the students except Lisa, who tries to ignore him. Lisa fails when she tries to tell the students that the stories are false. Meanwhile, Principal Skinner gets a job at the car wash.

The school is soon selected to compete against Shelbyville in American history on Smart Mouths, but it turns out that Springfield students know nothing about the history and it looks like Shelbyville wins, but after the fire alarm goes off they cancel the recording. The Rich Texan likes Abe and decides to nominate him as the candidate for next governor, which he accepts. Abe starts his campaign tour in Springfield and he becomes more popular with the residents. The next day, Lisa finds out what Bart did and why he has disguised him, but she decides to let the police capture him. Abe visit his family to give them the tickets to his key to the city ceremony. Marge talks to Abe about what he wants to do if he is elected. Abe decides that he will not run for governor. Milhouse gets arrested by the police for the destruction of the bridge after photographic proof is shown. The family finds out that Grampa has ended his campaign and they are happy about it. The Rich Texan then decides to help help Crazy Cat Lady when she runs for governor.
