- The episode name is a reference to the 1963 novel The Man Who Fell to Earth, which was adapted into a 1976 The Man Who Fell to Earth and a 1987 televison program.
- Bart and Milhouse are playing Mouse Catch, a parody of Mouse Trap.
- Mr. Burns mistakes Elon Musk with Henry Ford, the famous car industry revolutionary.
- When Musk suddenly asks Homer what is he thinking of, Homer responds "Pittsburgh 35 - Dallas 31". Homer also mentions the Miami Dolphins.
