History[edit]
The movie was at the cinemas for eight months and won nine Academy Awards. Bart Simpson was the only person in Springfield who didn't get to see the film during its original run due to the Springfield Prison break being blamed on him, which had actually been caused by Maggie Simpson while Bart was babysitting her. Ignoring Marge and Lisa, who both thought Bart had had enough punishment, Homer instructed the ticket clerk not to sell tickets to Bart, meaning he couldn't see the film. This led the entire town to become angry and disrespect Homer. Bart finally saw it in 2032 after becoming Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
Plot[edit]
Trailer[edit]
Is the promotional trailer for "The Itchy and Scratchy Movie" (Movie plot, see below) Itchy shaves Scratchy fur off, scribbles his face with a marker and blows his brain out. Also shown some "scenes" are shown in the trailer: Itchy has Scratchy tied to a log on a conveyor belt, moving toward a circular saw; and Itchy dresses up some dynamite as a "female cat", who Scratchy falls in love with as they kiss she explodes and Scratchy dies in the explosion.
Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie[edit]
Scratchy is tied to a train track. Itchy tries to get into a train to over Scratchy, but must get a degree to ride first. The result? Itchy goes off to train-driving school, studies madly, passes, receives a degree, attends the achievement celebration, applies for a job at the Union Pacific (the most mentioned railroad in the series) and at last hops into the train. Scratchy quickly tries to untie himself, though does not manage in time and is run over. All that remains is Scratchy's severed arms still trying to untangle the rope.
Itchy & Scratchy Movie 2[edit]
As astronauts, Itchy and Scratchy have landed on the moon. There, Itchy impales Scratchy several times with the flag they were going to plant on the surface and cracks his air helmet open, causing Scratchy to apparently die of asphyxiation. Back on Earth, Itchy tells everyone Scratchy in a tragic accident and that he tried to save him. As a result, Itchy is praised as a hero for being the first mouse on the moon and he inexplicably runs for President, with Hillary Clinton as Vice President, winning the election. However in the White House, Itchy discovers that Scratchy is still alive and going to tell everyone the truth. After desperately thinking, Itchy decides to cause an "accidental" missile launch towards the moon. As Scratchy screams, all the missiles enter his mouth, save for one which reveals a small boot-like contraption inside it that kicks him, causing him to explode ending the movie.[1]
Behind the Laughter[edit]
- Its not known if the movie within the The Simpsons Movie is the original, or another film. Especially as Homer forbade Bart from seeing until 2032. The series does however run on a series of floating timelines, which have caused many inconsistencies in the show's history, such as Santa's Little Helper being the family pet in 1987 ("Homer's Barbershop Quartet"), when it is earlier implied he became their pet in 1989 ("Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire"). "That 90s Show" also re-writes the past history of the family so Homer and Marge meet in that decade, instead of the 70s as other flashback episodes have implied.
- The scene in the second movie where Itchy decides to launch missiles at the moon shares some resemblances with President John F. Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
- The Union Pacific train may be a reference to Los Angeles, where the Fox company is located and its subsidiary, 20th Century Fox produces the Simpsons. It can also be a reference to the Western United States region as a whole, referring to the Western cities that the Union Pacific Railroad serves, along with its competing neighbor, the BNSF Railway.
