Don't Look Now, But It's 1984! is a Radioactive Man comic story first printed in Radioactive Man #575.

Synopsis[edit]

"It's January, 1984. Dr. Bix Bentley of the Superior Squad has devised a plan to free Radioactive Man from the lighting bolt embedded in his brain once and for all. But the best laid plans of Bug Boy and men often go awry, and a new Radioactive Man is born, and believe us when we tell you, this RM is no boy scout! With Zenith in the midst of a media maelstrom over the new Radioactive Man someone has to put it all back together again....Radioactive Man's alter ego, Claude Kane III! It's a three-part story arc - told in one big issue with a special cover by fan favorite, Howard Chaykin!"

Plot[edit]

Claude Kane III once again asks Gloria Grand out on a date, but gets rejected. Bug Boy then shows up at WZEN Tower to talk to Claude, at Gretchen Grille flirts with Claude. Bug Boy then tells Claude that he has a plan to get the shrapnel out of his head. Radioactive Man and Bug Boy then fly off together. Meanwhile, Fallout Boy is with publicist Libby Biaz because he wants Radioactive Man to treat him better as he's been sidelined too much.

In Bug Boy's lab, Bug Boy attempts to teleport the shrapnel to another dimension. However, it goes wrong and Radioactive Man splits apart from Claude. Radioactive Man then flies off to stop a comet from crashing into Zenith City. Radioactive Man then took over the city, deciding to become the ruler of it, and started operating out of Zenith Mall. Claude Kane III then has a flash back of what happened after he split from Radioactive Man. Radioactive Man threw Claude aside as he no longer needed him and then took Bug Boy with him.

Meanwhile, Fallout Boy approaches the Bang Gang, a biker gang led by Isotope Rodriguez. Fallout Boy asks to join them and Isotope decides to give him a test run, taking the gang to Zenith Mall. As they break into the mall, Radioactive Man stops them and Isotope agrees to have the Bang Gang become Radioactive Man's body guards. At the same time, Claude was having lunch with Gretchen Grille.

Fallout Boy goes to Bug Boy because Radioactive Man is still not noticing him and he wants to know what he can do. As Gloria Grand is doing a news report in Zenith Mall, the Bang Gang interrupt the report. Fallout Boy and Bug Boy go to help out but the comet comes back towards Zenith City, and Radioactive Man isn't around to stop it this time. Claude Kane and Gretchen Grille went out of town to go on a date. Radioactive Man then shows up as Gretchen goes to the bathroom and asks Claude why he hasn't tried to get him and Radioactive Man to merge together again. Claude tells Radioactive Man that he's just doing what Radioactive Man told him, living his life. Radioactive Man and Claude have a heart to heart and then laugh about how Gloria always bought their silly excuses as to why Claude had to run off, which bonds the two of them back together. Radioactive Man then tells Gretchen that Claude had to call his bank before he flies off to Zenith City again.

Radioactive Man, now merged with Claude again, stops the comet and hands control of the city back over to Mayor Mike Evanston. Gretchen was no longer speaking to Claude after Claude abandoned her on their date and Gloria had fallen back in love with Radioactive Man again. Fallout Boy had also managed to turn the Bang Gang good, and they were seeing Libby Biaz to change their reputation with the world.
