- Kent Brockman wears a Superman costume from DC Comics.
- Kent Brockman's normal suit was given to him by Ted Koppel's wig maker.
- After being robbed by Snake, Kent Brockman says that he bets this kind of thing never happens to Brian Williams.
- Kent Brockman tells Snake not to shoot him, as he has a wife and two Emmy Awards.
- Snake tells Brockman that he's going to trade in his frequent flyer miles for a gift certificate to Applebee's.
- Chief Wiggum refers to Brockman as "Dan Blather", a reference to journalist Dan Rather.
- Chief Wiggum tells Brockman not to stay in the alley at night as it gets dangerous, saying that the town isn't Smallville. Smallville is the childhood hometown of Superman.
- Kent Brockman has a biography titled Man and Anchorman, a reference to the play Man and Superman by George Bernard Shaw.
- Brockman says that he was a veritable Veronica Mars in his youth. Veronica Mars is the lead character in the show of the same name. After Brockman finds Snake's library card, Lisa refers to him as Veronica.
