The toy action figure series was called World of Springfield because the goal of the line was to build a miniature [[Springfield]] through a series of interactive action figures and playsets. It eventually encompassed over 200 different figures/characters from the series, 40 interactive playsets (toy re-creations of Simpson's interior settings and town location settings within Springfield), and 3 non-interactive diorama town settings.

The success of all "mass-market" action figure lines based on TV or movie characters are timed to the initial release of the project - as part of its promotional and marketing messages - taking advantage of the promotions, P.R. and advertising awareness and the figures themselves also as advertising and promotional vehicles. Most movie/TV tie-in action figures are successful for the brief period of the theatrical release, the video/DVD release and the possibility of a successful sequel but rarely for any longer period and typically, the release pattern for the action figure is no more than a few dozen figures, and some playsets to serve as background dioramas for the figures - with sales dropping off a few months after the last film is released. The Kenner/Hasbro ''[[Star Wars]]'' movie line is of course, the gold standard with figures in the same scale and in the marketplace since 1978. The closest TV equivalent might be the ''Star Trek'' line, though non-contiguous and not technically from one TV series (coincidentally also from Playmates Toys).

The Fight Before Christmas promo 4.jpg

Christmas is a religious festival celebrated by Christians to commemorate the birth of Jesus. The Simpsons celebrate it.

On Christmas, the Simpsons have often had arguments over things. One year, Homer spent all their money on a present for himself. But after seeing a TV Movie about Christmas he quickly realized how much selfish was he being. After that, he started doing good actions for other people: He lent his old clothes to hobos, he offered food to homeless people, etc. However, Flanders started being jealous of Homer and decided to donate free Christmas presents to all Springfield citizens. Lisa told Homer that Buddhists think that «presents are material goods, and attachment to material goods kills the soul». Then, Homer sneaked into springfieldians' houses to steal the presents Flanders gave to all the citizens and went to Springfield Square to burn all the presents. However, people stopped him.

Another year, Bart accidentally destroyed all the presents and decorations and made up a story about being robbed by a crazy Scottish hairy man. This caused all the citizens in Springfield to feel sorry about the Simpsons and they decided to donate some money to the Simpsons family, which made Bart feel more guilty. Some time after that, Bart couldn't suppress the feeling of guiltiness and told all the truth through TV and all the neighbours got mad at the Simpsons as they lied to them and everyone in Springfield took everything from the Simpsons house, except for a little towel, and the Simpsons started to fight for the possession of that towel.

Another year, Gil stayed in the house and ruined Christmas for everyone, specially for Marge who wanted him to leave their house after Christmas, however, he stayed in for a some more time than what Marge wanted.

Another year, the Simpsons weren't able to afford all the Christmas spendings and had to turn their house into a hostel for tourists who came to Springfield because it was the only city with snow during Christmas. Marge rapidly started to get angry with their guests and, at the end, she got on with them.

However, there are some good Christmases. They got Santa's Little Helper for Christmas one time after he was abandoned by his owner.
