Stephen Hawking character.png

Stephen Hawking is a British theoretical physicist. He has visited Springfield several times.

Stephen Hawking is paralyzed and in a motorized wheelchair. The chair's features include a speech synthesizer, a toothbrush, a concealed extensible boxing glove, and a propeller which can deploy from the back of the chair and start spinning, essentially turning the chair into a miniature helicopter.

Professor Hawking first visited Springfield when he heard that the local Mensa chapter had taken control of the city. He was hoping to see the town transformed into a perfect utopia under the leadership of the intellectual elite, but was dismayed to see it was more of a "fruitopia". Hawking said he wasn't sure which was the bigger disappointment: His own failure to formulate a unified field theory, or the Springfield intellectuals' failure to transform the town. Principal Skinner objected to the comparison, and Hawking used his chair's boxing glove to punch him.

The townspeople revolted, and Hawking decided to make his escape. After accidentally deploying his chair's toothbrush (when he pressed the wrong button), Hawking activated his chair's propeller and flew away. When the townspeople began destroying a gazebo and Lisa was trapped inside, Hawking flew in and rescued her...

Simpsons Tall Tales.gif

"Simpsons Tall Tales" is the twenty-first and final episode of season 12 of The Simpsons and the two-hundred and sixty-ninth episode overall. It originally aired on May 20, 2001. The episode was written by John Frink, Don Payne, Bob Bendetson and Matt Selman and directed by Bob Anderson.

The family wins a trip to Delaware, but Homer refuses to pay the tax on the ticket, so they ride the rails and meet a hobo who sings and tells them some tall tales. First is the story of Paul Bunyan, with Homer playing the role of Paul. Next is Lisa as "Connie Appleseed," who tries to convince the pioneers to eat apples instead of buffalo. The third story isn't really tall, but a Mark Twain-style tale about Tom Sawyer (Bart) and Huckleberry Finn (Nelson), who go on the run when Huck won't marry Becky Thatcher (Lisa).

Fred Kranepool.png

Fred Kranepool is an undercover persona used by Mr. Burns to spy on his employees.

When Mr. Burns found graffiti in the men's room which implied his employees hated him, Burns decided to go undercover to find out what his employees really thought about him. He got an advanced suit with voice modulator and became Fred Kranepool, an employee at the Power Plant. Fred Kranepool then befriended Homer, Lenny and Carl. When Burns was trying to find out what they thought about him, the three employees were nice to Fred and accepted him immediately. After the hounds chased everyone out of the lunch room, Fred realized that being on the other side of the hounds being released, it was actually cruel, and felt sorry for his employees. Homer, Lenny, and Carl then offered to take Fred to Moe's Tavern with them.

Homer began spending more time with Fred than with his own family. One day at the power plant, Smithers asked Fred if Homer, Lenny, and Carl were bothering him. Fred told Smithers to back off and not speak to him with insolence, which got him respect from his employees. Homer, Lenny, and Carl then convinced Fred to talk to Mr. Burns to get positive changes made to the power plant, which Burns then began to implement...
