Angry Dad is a fictional comic turned Internet series created by Bart Simpson. It is about Angry Dad, a character who does stupid things and gets angry—based on Homer's real-life rages. When Lisa accused Bart of simply basing Angry Dad on Homer (and, by implication, accusing him of lacking creativity), Bart denied it and said that Angry Dad was a composite character: "Your (Lisa's) dad, my dad, a little of Maggie's dad."

At one point, Homer tried to give up rage, and Bart quickly realized that would eliminate his source of material, as Angry Dad was largely inspired by Homer's tantrums. To save the cartoon, Bart built an elaborate trap to make Homer mad. Soon after that, though, Bart learned that BetterThanTV.com had gone out of business and no more Angry Dad episodes were being produced, making the trap pointless. Bart then hurried home to try to stop Homer from falling into the trap, but it was too late: Homer had already fallen for the trap, gotten provoked into an extreme rage, and then gone on an angry rampage all over Springfield. Happily, it worked out for the best as Dr. Hibbert discovered that Homer's rages were actually beneficial for his health.

Angry Dad is a fictional comic turned Internet series created by Bart Simpson. It is about Angry Dad, a character who does stupid things and gets angry—based on Homer's real-life rages.

History

After animator and artist Geoff Jenkins gave a talk at Springfield Elementary School, the kids started doodling characters and comics. Bart's first comic, featuring a character called Danger Dude, was rejected by Comic Book Guy, who called it "lame and derivative". Bart then showed the comic to Stan Lee, who also didn't like it. However, Stan Lee told Bart that he should keep trying. Bart then tried to come up with an idea for his new comic. When he saw Homer struggling with and getting angry at a lawn chair, Bart turned that into a comic strip and called it Angry Dad. After getting other ideas from Homer's actions, Bart finished his first comic. The comic became a success among the children at the school, and Bart then had Comic Book Guy sell it in The Android's Dungeon.

During a comic signing at school, Todd Linux, the executive of BetterThanTV.com, approached Bart and told him that he wanted to turn Angry Dad into an Internet cartoon. Jenkins took Bart and Lisa to their office and showed them around. He also introduced them to the new voice actor of Angry Dad, Dan Castellaneta. Within an hour of the first episode being released, the show became a hit and Homer became a laughing stock in town. This led to the townspeople trying to get Homer angry, and caused more inspiration for Angry Dad episodes.

Eventually, Homer realized that he had anger issues and tried to keep himself calm. This meant that Bart was struggling to get new ideas for Angry Dad, so he set up a trap to humiliate Homer and make him angry. However, Bart and Milhouse found out that BetterThanTV.com had gone under and was out of business, meaning no new Angry Dad cartoons could be made. Bart went to try and stop Homer from falling into the trap but was too late. This led to Homer rampaging around town.[1]

Later, BetterThanTV.com made an Angry Dad short film. It won a Golden Globe award and an Academy Award.[2]
