Driven to Drink: The LifeBoat Story is a documentary series about LifeBoat, founded by Persephone Odair.
Plot[edit]
The documentary started with an interview between Lisa Simpson and Persephone, where Persephone explained why she had made LifeBoat. Her grandfather was a World War II sailor whose ship was destroyed by a torpedo. He survived on a lifeboat but had no drinkable water. Eventually, he died from dehydration. Persephone then asked Lisa if she knew any billionaires, and Lisa mentioned Mr. Burns, but told Persephone not to go to him. However, Persephone went to convince him to fund LifeBoat anyway. Eventually, Burns accepted and went into partnership with Persephone.
The documentary continued by covering the startup of the company, where it was revealed that Burns had given one of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant's cooling towers to Persephone and LifeBoat, along with the staff from Sector 7-G. The company became a success, and Burns and Persephone eventually got married in a private ceremony. After the LifeBoat device was shown to the board of directors, problems started happening, including employees getting fired. Professor Frink, who had been the lead scientist on what happened inside the LifeBoat device, wasn't even allowed to see what was inside it. After Carl Carlson raised concerns about LifeBoat, he emailed Persephone but then went missing. Online reactions toward Persephone began to turn negative, so Mr. Burns bought Twitter for her and deleted all the negative tweets.
A whistleblower within LifeBoat came forward and revealed that the device was a sham. When news of Carl's disappearance broke, Persephone was asked about it by a reporter, who complained about the public believing a man who wouldn't reveal his identity over her. After this final episode, the documentary changed to show LifeBoat in a positive light because Mr. Burns had bought out the company behind it.
