Kumatsu Motors is a Japanese auto manufacturer.

History[edit]

When Powell Motors went out of business due to its investment in the unsaleable car that Homer designed, Kumatsu took over the company and its factory in Detroit, Michigan.[1]

The plow that Homer bought for his snowplowing business was designed and sold by Kumatsu. When Mr. Plow went out of business due to a sudden thaw, Kumatsu repossessed the plow.[2]

Behind the Laughter[edit]

Kumatsu Motors is a pun on Komatsu Limited, a Japanese company that manufactures construction and mining equipment.
