Cultural references
- The episode's title is a reference to Woody Allen's mockumentary Take the Money and Run.
- Homer pays Bart with dollars printed by the Militia of Montana.
- One of the questions Homer asks as a quiz master is "Who is your favorite Backstreet Boy?".
- Lenny answers "the little rat-faced one", referring to Howie Dorough, while Carl answers Nick Carter.
- During the interview between film producer Robert Evans and host Charlie Rose on The Charlie Rose Show:
- Evans is being asked about 1970 film and The Godfather is mentioned.
- Charlie Rose mentions film critic Vincent Canby, the 1974 film Chinatown and its sequel, The Two Jakes, both films produced by Evans.
- Robert Evans makes a reference to Chasen's, a famous restaurant attended by Hollywood celebrities and VIPs, and that was also famous for its chili.
- Evans also mentions Charles Bluhdorn, chairman and president of Paramount Pictures and screenwriter and director Bobby Towne, who worked with Evans.
- The song "It's A Wild Weekend" by NRBQ is heard at The Royal Fart Inn.

- At the soiree, there is an ice sculpture of an electric chair. Florida is one of the states that still allows execution by that method.
Goofs
- In the scene at the spring break concert when Kid Rock first lands on stage, the 2 guitarists have swapped hair colors with each other. In the very next shot, their hair colors are back to normal.
- In the scene where Homer is talking and everyone is looking at him, a woman near him has a line joining one of her eyelashes to another.
- Years before the episode's release, working in a chain gang in Florida was stopped.
- When the Simpsons drive through the train track to escape the sheriff, there is only one track shown and the car is lying on the driveway, after they are relieve they are then suddenly on another track before being hit by the other train.

- One of the Hell's Satans from "Take My Wife, Sleaze" is seen on the jury.
- Admiral Carstairs from "Burns, Baby Burns" is also on the jury.
- One of the truckers from "Maximum Homerdrive" is also on the jury.
