Des Moines is the capital city of Iowa.

History

While trying to teach Apu about American history for Apu's citizenship test, Homer shows him a map of the US, on which various cities are seen, including Des Moines.[1]

While in The Prodigy Barn toy store, Bart was playing a video game that involved blasting the capital cities of every state. He was having fun, until he realized that it was an educational game and threw the controller at the TV screen, exclaiming "That'll teach you to teach me!"[2]
