[[Rex Banner]] visits [[742 Evergreen Terrace]] to collect [[Homer Simpson|Homer]]'s student loan from Springfield's Collection Department. Homer flees and Rex starts chasing him through [[Springfield]]. Homer manages to escape and the family starts to repaint the house with invisible paint, so they can hide inside. Banner discovers that the house has disappeared, but soon finds out that they have camouflaged the house and he starts to wait for Homer. The family decides to move in with the Flanders family, who gives them wigs, new clothes, new jobs and names. [[Bart Simpson|Bart]] becomes [[Gord Flanders]] and becomes better friends with [[Milhouse Van Houten|Milhouse]], [[Lisa Simpson|Lisa]] becomes [[Holly Flanders]] and becomes popular among her classmates, Homer becomes [[Fred Flanders]] and unwittingly helps [[Ned Flanders|Ned]] to increase the sales in the store, and [[Marge Simpson|Marge]], as [[Mary Flanders]], repaints the church's ceiling, which is loved by everyone in the congregation. Ned is soon annoyed that the Simpsons love their new identities as Flanders, and he screams to "Fred" that he is really Homer Simpson and will never be a Flanders. Banner hears this and arrests Homer, along with the others who have not paid their student loans. It turns out that [[Charles Montgomery Burns|Mr. Burns]] has bought up the loans and they will be locked up in zoo cages until the debt is paid. Ned regrets this and wants to pay Homer's debt while a baboon named [[Bobo]] starts arguing with Banner and they shred the receipt for the loans. Since there is no evidence for the loans everyone is set free, and Homer promises to pay Ned and lets him stay with them for six months, which the family will soon regret.

Debt Be Not Proud is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #213.

Synopsis

"With a little help from Ned Flanders, the Simpsons go underground and incognito when Rex Banner returns to collect on Homer's overdue student loans - and they somehow manage to remake themselves into a better family in the process."


Plot

Rex Banner visits 742 Evergreen Terrace to collect Homer's student loan from Springfield's Collection Department. Homer flees and Rex starts chasing him through Springfield. Homer manages to escape and the family starts to repaint the house with invisible paint, so they can hide inside. Banner discovers that the house has disappeared, but soon finds out that they have camouflaged the house and he starts to wait for Homer. The family decides to move in with the Flanders family, who gives them wigs, new clothes, new jobs and names. Bart becomes Gord Flanders and becomes better friends with Milhouse, Lisa becomes Holly Flanders and becomes popular among her classmates, Homer becomes Fred Flanders and unwittingly helps Ned to increase the sales in the store, and Marge, as Mary Flanders, repaints the church's ceiling, which is loved by everyone in the congregation.
