Cultural references

• The episode title is a pun on the movie The Social Network.
  • The plot of Lisa making a social networking site is also similar to The Social Network.
    • Also, SpringFace is a parody of Facebook.
• The chalkboard gag, "We do need no education", is a reference to the lyric "We don't need no education" from the Pink Floyd song "Another Brick in the Wall".
• Reverend Lovejoy takes an online quiz to find which Muppet he is and gets Beaker as the result.
• Chubba the Shedd's Dust Palace is a reference to Jabba the Hutt's Sand Palace.

Trivia

• The episode was too short so A Simpsons "Show's Too Short Story" was placed at the end. This was animated in a similar way to the Dark Stanly story from "Yokel Chords" with similar music playing.
