Cultural references[edit]
- Will Wright floats on a "Sims Diamond".
- The video game cartridges that are seen burning in the background of the level, as well as in the cutscenes, resemble those functional with the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System), a popular video game console from the mid-1980's to the early 1990's, when it was succeeded by the Super Nintendo.
- Coincidentally, The Simpsons began airing at the height of the NES' fame, and some of the Simpsons' earliest games, such as The Simpsons: Bart vs. the Space Mutants and The Simpsons: Bart vs. the World, were released for the console.
- When Homer turns into Homer Ball, Bart says "You're like a morbidly obese Mycroft Holmes".
- The "Chasm Death" cliché says "Expect a plagiarism lawsuit from Wile E. Coyote", referencing Wile E. Coyote from Looney Tunes.
