Kent also reports during the news that Mayor Quimby offered a contender a quick way to get a "Leg Up" during the Miss Springfield Pageant, where he was a judge. Quimby sees the news and understands that he will not win the re-election and talks to Reverend Lovejoy. In the church the next day, Quimby talks to the congregation about his plans to introduce Sunday blues laws to save the morality of Springfield. The audience cheers but Homer realizes that this means he can not drink on Sundays and volunteers as a candidate for mayoral post. He gets help by hiring Moe as his campaign manager, but later changes him to Fat Tony. Homer promises lots of things and promises Lisa to save the duck pond if he gets elected.
