The Oakland Athletics are a current Major League Baseball (MLB) team in Oakland, California.
History
Former player José Canseco played for the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant softball team.[1]
Homer completed his address on the curb by writing "'74 Oakland A's - Best Team Ever". The Athletics won the World championship that year. Several members of the team appeared in a car that had "74 Oakland A's" written in yellow. After they drove away, Homer wiped off his A's comment.[2]
Former Dodger Kirk Gibson's walkoff home run against former Athletic closer Dennis Eckersley in game one of the 1988 World Series was once seen on television.[3]
