The Oakland Athletics are a current Major League Baseball (MLB) team in Oakland, California.
History
Former player José Canseco played for the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant softball team.[1]
Homer completed his address on the curb by writing "74 Oakland A's - Best Team Ever". The Athletics won the World championship that year.[2]
Former Dodger Kirk Gibson's walkoff home run against former Athletic closer Dennis Eckersley in game one of the 1988 World Series was once seen on television.[3]
Behind the Laughter
The Oakland Athletics are a baseball team that has been in the American League since their creation in 1901. Even with a number of city relocations, the Oakland Athletics have won nine World Series championships, including three straight from 1972-1974. They also went to the World Series three times from 1988-1990, but only won one World Series championship.
