The Lisa's Sax Solo is a running visual joke that has been present since the beginning of the show. It is one of the many opening sequence gags. It consists of Lisa playing a sax solo as she exits the music room at Springfield Elementary School after Mr. Largo directs her to leave band practice. In some episodes, Lisa is shown playing a trumpet or an harp instead of her sax.
