Ned the Simpson is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #82.
Synopsis[edit]
- "After Homer gets arrested, he and Ned design each other's houses on television show House Swappers, and they start acting like each other. Meanwhile, Lisa is sent away to a camp."
Plot[edit]
Homer gets pulled over by Chief Wiggum after going through Chief Wiggum's speed trap. He is then taken to court where Judge Snyder goes to sentence him to community service, but the community objects to it as Homer's previous community service jobs have made things worse for everyone. Lindsey Naegle then steps out of the crowd and offers to put Homer onto a new reality TV series she was producing as his community service. Judge Snyder accepts this and Homer and Ned are made to take part in House Swappers. Lisa doesn't want to have anything to do with the show so she is sent off to camp.
House Swappers has Homer redecorating Ned's house whilst Ned redecorates Homer's house. When the redecorating is done, Homer and Ned find that their houses have been changed to match the tastes of the other person. Ned finds that his fridge is full of Duff Beer whilst Homer finds that all his clothes have been replaced with Flanders' clothes. At dinner, Ned gets gum over his face and mustache when he looks under the dining table, so he has to cut his mustache off and throws it away. Homer then finds Ned's mustache in the trash and puts it on himself. Homer and Ned then continue to become more like the other person is, with Homer becoming a more religious family man, and Ned becoming a lazy drunkard.
Homer gets fired from his job at the Nuclear Power Plant as he was working too hard, which Mr. Burns thought meant that he was up to something. Meanwhile, Ned gets lazy at his job and decides to go home for a nap, leaving the school bullies in charge of The Leftorium. The next day, Reverend Lovejoy and Helen find Ned passed out on his couch surrounded by beer cans. Meanwhile, Homer annoys his friends at Moe's Tavern by telling that that alcohol isn't the answer to all of life's problems. When Homer gets home, he finds that Marge, Bart, and Maggie are dressed as Maude, Rod, and Todd, whilst Rod and Todd are both dressed as Bart and are skateboarding on the roof. Homer and Ned then decide to swap their lives back. Ned goes back to The Leftorium and finds that the bullies have actually done a good job with looking after the store, whilst Homer goes back to his job at the Power Plant, taking his job back from Ralph Wiggum.
