Canon discussions[edit]

Use this section to discuss why you consider an episode to be canon or not. If it's decided to be non-canon, it will be added to the list. The Solar Dragon 07:13, September 4, 2021 (EDT)

Uncut Femmes[edit]

I feel this episode should be considered non-canon as it changes Sarah Wiggum's story and how she met Clancy Wiggum, as heard in the season 14 episode "A Star Is Born Again". The Solar Dragon 07:13, September 4, 2021 (EDT)

Definitely agree. Plus it's too late to implement a change like this on a character that has been around for a long time and say this is canon and will be the new continuity of her, doesn't matter even if she doesn't speak much, she cameos a lot and has always been from the beginning been somewhat of a doppelganger of Clancy like some other wives and husbands of Springfield. Sarah has never gotten a story, and If they did do one, it would be absolutely nothing like what we got in this episode where they had to rewrite her and give her a totally out of character personality and different voice all for likely just to satisfy the crew on the show now that doesn't have any respect for any characters and wants them to be their way and not what the character was originally built up as and naturally supposed to be, they would've also have done it a long time ago as well when thought and effort was put into stuff like this when all the talented staff were still on the show which isn't the case anymore, they would give her something more natural that goes with the established details of her with effort put into it like other characters that isn't something completely random and just something nit picked out of the air like what was done here, and respect her on the way she was created, but people on the show now don't respect anything or would put any effort into something that would naturally go with the character, and in return would ruin a character even if its a one time deal. I mean they have already ruined and canceled characters such as Apu. A lot of people don't realize this, but she has always had a personality and character traits that make up her personality such as her emotions and she is always elated and happy, and she also does stuff too such as being apart of a book club, as well as hang out with others in groups, such as Marge and the other Springfield mothers, and in this episode they all have this disdain for her which they haven't before, and also Sarah has long been friends with these others as well including Marge as well. As of the most recent 2 Season 33 episodes, Sarah is back to her normal self which sums up this episode was non canon since the things they did to her in the episode aren't apart of the continuity of her already long established personality, and character continuity stays the same, but recently which for a plot for a certain episode such as this, they changed a characters personality and gave them some out of character artificial backstory that doesn't even go with the established details of her, and again she has never gotten a backstory, and they didn't respect her for who she is by changing her up and giving her also an out of character one time voice change. This type of thing really pisses off true fans of the show that haven't watched since Season 9, including myself, not these fake fans nowadays that like this stuff that call themselves "fans", which these and the people that haven't watched the show for long, and haven't even paid attention to her ever, and just think she has no personality and its "incredible" they gave her one, even though she has already had one. These are the only people that liked this mess and will continue to rub it in your face despite them being very wrong about it. There was no build up or any evidence of her being a thief or anything, or even doing any sort of crime, and she isn't the person to do such a thing just by how the way she was made from the start. Like you mentioned, its already been established on how they were married as well, and this episode doesn't mention anything about that. But we can put this episode behind us as non canon since she is back to normal with her normal design as well in cameos in the 2 newest episodes from Season 33. But this episode genuinely disgusted me with what they did to her, but recently they have done some disgusting things with characters and not respecting them or canceling them like I said like with Apu. Here is a very well written article that explains Sarah's traits and other things about her that can go along with this message for you and others on this page to see: https://tstoaddicts.com/2014/02/23/the-real-housewives-of-springfield-sarah-wiggum/ Duderocks5539 (talk) 00:16, October 6, 2021 (EDT)

Do PizzaBots Dream of Electric Guitars?[edit]

I feel that this episode can be considered canon still as whilst it changes up Homer's teenage story, I don't think it directly contradicts anything else stated, other than the floating timeline changing the year Homer was a teenager in. The Solar Dragon 07:13, September 4, 2021 (EDT)

The Principal and the Pauper[edit]

Skinner's backstory is changed, which is contradicted in multiple future episodes, including "Boy Meets Curl" where Agnes is seen pregnant with someone who is clearly the Skinner we know. Although, it has been mentioned once later... The Solar Dragon 07:31, September 4, 2021 (EDT)

I, (Annoyed Grunt)-bot[edit]

We go through multiple Snowballs, only to have one that looks identical to Snowball II and is only referred to as Snowball II in future. Plus, Skinner's referred to as "Armin Tamzarian" in this. The Solar Dragon 07:31, September 4, 2021 (EDT)

Donnie Fatso[edit]

Another one that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, Fat Tony dies and is replaced by his cousin, Fit Tony, who then becomes Fat Tony. However, Michael still seems to be his son. The Solar Dragon 07:31, September 4, 2021 (EDT)

Replaceable You[edit]

Mrs. Glick gets killed this episode. However, she is seen alive and well in multiple future episodes. The Solar Dragon 07:31, September 4, 2021 (EDT)

Gump Roast[edit]

According to our current list of non-canon episodes, "Gump Roast" is classed as non-canon. However, I don't see why it should be. Kang and Kodos, and aliens, have made appearances in other canon episodes too. So I feel this could be canon. The Solar Dragon 10:05, September 4, 2021 (EDT)

Brick Like Me[edit]

Another on the non-canon list, but most of the episode, the Lego part, is a dream. So this feels like it should be canon. The Solar Dragon 10:05, September 4, 2021 (EDT)

Every Man's Dream[edit]

The episode is all dreams within dreams, which is then revealed to be a story behind a tattoo on Hannah Horvath's back. The Solar Dragon 15:25, September 4, 2021 (EDT)

Tales from the Public Domain[edit]

The framing story should be canon, and thus the episode should be as well. (Marge reading to the kids, and Bowdlerizing one of the stories) The stories themselves should be non-canon, as they involve things like characters getting killed off and eaten and they really come off like the THOH stories. -- Mythigator (talk) 21:57, September 24, 2021 (EDT)

Going to just respond to the first one, since this goes for all the anthology episodes with a framing device - The framing device should be canon. The stories are usually being told by the characters, so they will be fictional rather than non-canon. They're canon stories, but they're just stories. The Solar Dragon 12:42, September 26, 2021 (EDT)
That's pretty much what I figured, but it's still worth the trouble to make a list. That way there's a resource to respond to canonicity questions regarding specific episodes. -- Mythigator (talk) 19:54, September 26, 2021 (EDT)

Simpsons Tall Tales[edit]

Framing story: canon, thus making the episode canon. "Tales": non-canon. Same reasoning as "Tales from the Public Domain", except that this episode doesn't have the THOH-style violence and mayhem. Thus, the family's hopping a train whilst on a trip is canon as it's part of the framing story, but "Homer as Paul Bunyan" is not. -- Mythigator (talk) 21:57, September 24, 2021 (EDT)

Revenge is a Dish Best Served Three Times[edit]

Framing story (and thus the episode) canon, individual stories non-canon. Same reasoning as "Simpsons Tall Tales". Thus, Homer's being prone to road rage is canon (and at any rate entirely consistent with his character), but Milhouse's power glove and revenge campaign against the bullies are not. -- Mythigator (talk) 21:57, September 24, 2021 (EDT)

Four Great Women and a Manicure[edit]

Framing story (and episode) canon, individual stories non-canon, similar reasoning to "Simpsons Tall Tales". So the trip to the nail salon is canon, but Lisa's being cast as Snow White (for example) is not. -- Mythigator (talk) 10:04, September 26, 2021 (EDT)
