When Homer enters Moe's and finds rock music playing, he says that it's like the ghost of Grand Funk Railroad has risen to show them how to rock again.
When Lenny finds out Moe and Otto switched jobs, he says that it's like Freaky Friday or one of its many cinematic variations, referring to the Freaky Friday franchise.
After Moleman says that he doesn't think his health insurance will cover his surgery, the comic ends with "Thanks, Obama", a reference to the Internet meme.
