"The Cavalry Kids' (actually the Pre-Teen Braves') Version of the National Anthem" is a song performed by The Pre-Teen Braves masquerading as The Cavalry Kids.

History[edit]

A candy-selling contest was held among the youth organizations of Springfield, and the prize was that the group that sold the most candy would get to sing the national anthem at a Springfield Isotopes game. The competition was fierce, but The Cavalry Kids won. Angry at the outcome, The Pre-Teen Braves put up misleading signs around the stadium so the Cavalry Kids would get lost, then donned Cavalry Kids uniforms and sang the anthem with parody lyrics in order to ruin the reputation of the Cavalry Kids. As anticipated, the song drew overwhelming booing from the crowd, followed by stinging criticisms of the Cavalry Kids. The prank was exposed when the real Cavalry Kids arrived at the stadium and began fighting with the Pre-Teen Braves. This led to fighting in the stands between former 'Kids and former 'Braves in the crowd, which in turn led to a full-scale riot.

Lyrics[edit]

Oh say can you see.
Back in row Double-Z,
That the team sucks out loud,
And your fans are all plowed...
[The singing is cut off by loud and angry booing from the crowd.]

Behind the Laughter[edit]

  • It is a parody of "The Star-Spangled Banner" (the American National Anthem).
  • At sporting events in real life, it is considered a serious faux pas for the anthem singer(s) to make a mistake with the lyrics, which explains the crowd's strong negative reaction to the Pre-Teen Braves' performance at the Isotopes game.
