Translation, anyone?[edit]

I'm curious about whether the "Chinese" words in that part of the story are actually swearing, or even Chinese words at all. If anyone can figure this out, please drop me a line at my talk page. There is one more frame with "Chinese" script (where Bart says "Holy-"), so if anyone wants to have a try at a translation, I'll make an image of that frame available. Thanks! -- Mythigator 04:01, 12 March 2012 (EDT)

I searched a few websites. Wikipedia isn't very reliable. I searched up a particular Chinese swear word language website, but they vote for what is (or isn't) a swear word. Honestly, I don't think they're swear words. --Fred (Talk Contribs.) 06:16, 21 March 2012 (EDT)
I'm tediously looking through a list of Chinese characters here. I've translated the first speech bubble "Go to your" and I'm trying to translate the second bubble. Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 08:57, 21 March 2012 (EDT)
The entire phrase is written in simplified Chinese except from the first character of the second speech bubble. The second character in the second speech bubble is "dead". But, it does not seem like a swear word though. Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 16:12, 21 March 2012 (EDT)
Okay, my translator managed to get some help from his dad for the last speech bubble. It says either "Go to hell" or "You should be dead." The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 16:15, 21 March 2012 (EDT)
Both speech bubbles together could be "Damn you" I am told too. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 16:17, 21 March 2012 (EDT)
Considering that right after Homer swears in Chinese, he says "Die! Die! Die! Die!" (as he goes berserk and pounds the wallpaper with a hammer), "Damn you! You should be dead!" is probably a reasonable translation. I've added the image of Bart's "Chinese swear" to the article, so if someone wants to have a go at translating that one, have at it. :-) -- Mythigator 10:39, 8 April 2012 (EDT)
Does anyone have any idea about Bart's Chinese swear? -- Mythigator 14:49, 24 May 2012 (EDT)

I talked to a co-worker of mine who is Chinese and asked her to have a look at the two speech balloons with swearing in Chinese. She said that Homer's swear could be translated as either "Damn you! You should be dead!" or "Go to Hell! You should be dead!". Bart's swear means "dog shit", but I might water it down slightly for the main page. -- Mythigator 02:27, 23 June 2012 (EDT)

Wikisimpsons is uncensored so I changed the page. If "shit" is the correct translation, that should be used instead. Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 03:24, 23 June 2012 (EDT)
That's correct, so we might as well roll with the S-bomb. My co-worker posed an interesting question, though: How did Alsip (or whoever was responsible for those two balloons) know the Chinese for them? She was a little shocked at the swearing, but impressed that they got it right. -- Mythigator 09:28, 23 June 2012 (EDT)
It could be anything. He could have a Chinese friend, or background. There could be a Chinese person working for Bongo comics who did the translation. Could be anything. :P Maybe Neil Alsip didn't have anything to do with it as it might have been something for the painters and designers to have done? ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 09:37, 23 June 2012 (EDT)
