List of scenes cut from The Simpsons shorts

Wikisimpsons - The Simpsons Wiki

This is a list of scenes cut from The Simpsons shorts, with information supplied by The Simpsons Archive and the titles supplied by Simpsons World The Ultimate Episode Guide: Seasons 1-20.

In a listing, first there will be the short's title and production code. Underneath, information about the scene cut, and in some listings, there is a quote, from the cut scene.

Act One, which consists of Bart and Lisa Watching Television while Maggie electrocutes herself by sticking a fork into an electrical socket, is cut in syndication airings. It was cut because children watching the episode of The Tracey Ullman Show in which this short was included could have copied Maggie's actions in Act One, and several children watching could have ended up with serious injuries, or could have died. If the scene were to have been left in, it is likely that parents would have prevented this from happening, however.

18 seconds of the short are cut in syndication. The cut lines and scenes are listed below, and are both in Act One.

"Bart: How long are you going to keep sucking on that stupid pacifier?
Lisa: What a little baby you are.
"
―In act 1.

When Maggie's pacifier is pulled out of her mouth in act one, she proceeds to fall forward and walk off. She then walks down a hall, falls by a mouse hole, and walks off-screen. The scene shifts to her entering her bedroom, where she falls and picks herself up again to open a drawer full of pacifiers.
