A Shrimp in Time Pays Fine is a Radioactive Man comic story first printed in Bongo Super-Heroes.
Plot[edit]
As the rest of the Superior Squadron go to fight against Adolf Hitler in the war, Captain Squid is sent to patrol the ocean. Captain Squid is annoyed at this as people don't recognize him as a hero since his heroics are done under the sea, out of the eye of people. When Captain Squid is in the ocean, he meets two brine shrimp, one of which is called Cathy. Cathy talks to Captain Squid until Captain Squid asks if she is a brine shrimp. When Cathy confirms that she is, Captain Squid eats her, causing her brother to swim off.
Captain Squid chases after the shrimp and is surrounded by thousands of them. When Captain Squid questions what good deed he did to be presented with such a feast, the shrimp mother tells her children to leave Captain Squid alone. The mother then asks why Captain Squid was eating her children. When Captain Squid explains that he just became hungry, the mother gives him permission to eat the rest of her children, giving him a bottle of cocktail sauce. When Captain Squid finishes eating them all, he asks the mother why she allowed him to do so. She tells him that she births a litter every day and they don't leave home and keep talking, which annoys her. Captain Squid then comes up with an idea of what to do with future children.
In a toy shop, Captain Squid sells his new toy, Sea Monkeys. These prove to be a hit with the kids who are queuing up to get the new toy. When asked how he came up with this idea, Captain Squid says that its a sea-cret.
