Synopsis[edit]

A meltdown at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant causes a large black cloud to emit from the cooling towers, causing everyone that comes in contact with it to turn into hungry zombie vampires.

Plot[edit]

At the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, Mr. Burns and Waylon Smithers discuss the plant reusing the old smoke filters instead of spending money replacing them. Meanwhile, Chief Wiggum is with Ralph in the police car, discussing Ralph's future. Ralph tells his father that he doesn't want to be a cop; he wants to be a nurse. At the power plant, a meltdown is starting, and Lenny and Carl worry about it and tell Homer to do something. The three of them go to the filters, and Filter A starts spurting out radioactive ooze. When Filter B also breaks, Homer flees back home to try and save his family. A black cloud emits from the cooling towers and makes its way across town, blocking out the sun.

At the Kwik-E-Mart, several people are shopping. Chief Wiggum and Ralph enter just as the black cloud affects the area. This causes several people outside to turn into zombie vampires. At the Simpson house, the whole family is also affected. The survivors at the Kwik-E-Mart watch the zombie vampire horde outside. The back door opens, and another group of survivors enters, but not wanting to take any chances, Chief Wiggum shoots them all dead. Six days pass, and eventually, the Kwik-E-Mart survivors start planning to leave the Kwik-E-Mart to find another place to hold out. On day nine, they set out for the Springfield Police Station, making it there by day eleven. On day thirteen, Ralph goes missing on his way to the toilet. Another couple of days pass, and the survivors spot Ralph outside. Chief Wiggum thinks that he'll be fine, but Groundskeeper Willie doesn't want to risk losing the boy, so he takes his tractor, Willy, and goes to mow down the zombie vampires and save Ralph. With Willie distracting them, Chief Wiggum rescues Ralph, and they hide in a storage closet for a few days until it's safe. Meanwhile, the zombie vampires turn their attention to Comic Book Guy and chase him through the streets.

Professor Frink rescues the Wiggums from the closet and tells them that he figured out that the smoke filters at the power plant shut down, which is what caused the meltdown and black cloud. He theorizes that replacing them will stop the zombie vampires, but it will take a week to create new filters. Just over a week passes, and the new filters are ready. As Chief Wiggum starts making his way to the power plant, Ned Flanders approaches him and lets him know about some more survivors in the First Church of Springfield. Chief Wiggum goes with Ned, and he decides to do something to keep the zombie vampires away from the church, creating a ring of fire around it. However, the fire burns down the church, and the survivors flee while on fire.

As Chief Wiggum approaches the power plant, Apu, who is missing an arm and a leg, tells Wiggum that he was with Sideshow Bob when they were attacked by zombie vampire Burns and Smithers, who are defending the filter machine. Chief Wiggum uses a sun lamp to kill the two and replaces the filters. However, as he leaves the power plant, he feels himself turning into a zombie vampire. Homer attacks Chief Wiggum while he's distracted, and the two of them fight until the black cloud dissipates and the sun comes out again. All the zombie vampires turn back into humans, and Marge apologizes to Apu for trying to kill him. However, Homer and Chief Wiggum are still fighting. Bart reveals that Homer said that Wiggum had "bat breath," which caused them to fight.
