Public Television Telethon was a telethon.
History
The telethon was held to support public television shows. A comedian participated in the telethon, reading dull material in an attempt to encourage donations, but his "jokes" were ridiculously bland and unfunny. While watching, the Simpsons wondered what the studio audience was laughing at.
Troy McClure also appeared in the telethon, asking for support. Marge generously pledged thirty dollars.
