Plot
The story is presented in a backwards fashion; each comic page takes place before the previous one (usually by only a few minutes), although the individual panels are given in the correct order.
37 years ago, Abraham Simpson sold a Squishee with two straws to a boy named Steve. After drinking through both straws at once Steve's head appeared to freeze and crack open, creating the legend of Brain Freeze Steve. 7 years later, a young Homer Simpson and Barney Gumble attempt to do the same thing until Kirk van Houten tells them of the legend.
In present day, Bart, Lisa, Milhouse and Martin sneak to the Kwik-E-Mart during a parents evening. Bart decides to explore the Kwik-E-Mart for the ghost of Brain Freeze Steve and tricks Apu into closing early. They enter a room entitled "The House of Wax Horrors". They head down a slide where they encounter a factory of Apu's home-made products. Martin has bought a pie and is determined keep it intact, while Lisa loses her dress and is forced to wear a giant Squishee cup. The kids mistake Apu's cousin Chachi for Brain Freeze Steve and hit him with a plank of wood. Chachi instructs them to "maintain balance of the machine", referring to a giant Squishee machine. Bart attempts to do so, but falls inside and nearly drowns in the Squishee liquid until he is rescued by Apu, who is dressed as a chicken. The Simpson parents arrive to pick up the kids and Homer accidentally drives off a cliff.
