Lyrics[edit]

Had a wife 'til the good Lord took her.
He brought her down
With an air-bazooka.
Now I'm missin' her meatloaf
And her low-fat apple strudel.
But that's life,
That's life-a-ringy-a-dingy-dind-ding-doodle.
I've been a winner, a loser, a lover, a liver,
A dad to Todd and to Rod.
I live next door to Homer Simpson,
And I still believe in God.
And each time I fe-fo-find myself down on my knewws
I don't even ask, "How-do, Lord, why me?"
No siree-bob! That's life,
And I won't dispute it.
Run it up the ol' flag-diddily-pole,
I'll stand and salute it.
That's life,
So darn pick-adilly fickle.
One day I'm thinkin' it ain't worth a silly nickel.
The next day I'm feelin' frisky
As a miniature poodle.
Becuase that's life,
That's life-a-ringy-a-dingy-dind-ding-doodle!

Behind the Laughter[edit]

The song is a parody of the Frank Sinatra song "That's Life", written by Dean Kay and Kelly Gordon. The "-a-ringy-a-dingy-dind-ding-doodle" part is Flanders' take on Sinatra's saying (and later song and album) "ring-a-ding-ding".
