The Gremlin is a creature that tried to destroy the school bus.

Bart had a dream one night where the school bus lost a wheel and crashed. Later that day, whilst on the bus, Bart noticed that there was a gremlin on the side of the bus. Upon realizing this, Bart went to tell Otto about the gremlin, asking him to do something. Otto then noticed Hans Moleman driving an AMC Gremlin and knocked him off the road, killing him. Still seeing the gremlin, Bart got more panicked and shouted about the gremlin, causing the kids to look out the window, where they didn't see a gremlin. Meanwhile, in their UFO, Kang and Kodos were laughing about the earthlings being frightened of a creature that didn't exist, only to notice a gremlin on their ship.

Bart attempted to stay calm on the bus but looked out the window, seeing the gremlin again. Principal Skinner then spoke to Bart and told him to stop using his imagination and obey the rules, before closing the window blind. Eventually, the gremlin started taking screws out of the wheels of the bus, causing Bart to panic and shout, only to be tied to his seat by the school's staff. Bart was later untied by Üter and noticed the gremlin again. Bart then grabbed one of the emergency flares, which were currently in Martin's pants, and opened the window, almost getting sucked out in the process. He then threw the flare at the gremlin as Skinner and Willie pulled Bart back in the window. The flare hit the gremlin, causing it to fall into the road, where it was hit by Ned Flanders, who thought it was cute...
