Sound Thinking! is a Bart Simpson story first printed in Bart Simpson #71.

Plot

Milhouse asks Bart if he wants to participate in the Eeew-Tube Make-Believe Mayhem contest. The grand prize for the loudest, grossest video is an X-Treme 5000 Computer, and whoever gets the most hits wins. Milhouse tells him that his entry is off the scream-meter: he swiped footage from his parents' divorce and mixed their screaming with his GarageBand app, which could make anybody's ears bleed. Sherri and Terri tell Milhouse that their parents are twice as dysfunctional and they use a twice as expensive app, so their entry will be twice as gross. Milhouse asks Bart what he will contribute to the competition, but Bart tells him that he will not enter the contest. Bart realizes that he wants to win the computer really badly. The kids in the playground start laughing because they think Bart does not have a computer. Nelson walks away with Bart and tells him that he does not have a computer either; all he has is his mom's video camera. Bart gets an idea: they cannot afford to make fake carnage, but they can create real carnage, videotape it and send it to the competition. Bart tells Nelson that they will share the computer, but Nelson tells him that he only cares about the trophy, so they decide to enter the competition together.

The first thing they tape is Nelson giving Milhouse a wedgie. They realize that this is not good enough; they have to do something bigger. Bart manages to get Moe to throw Barney out of the bar when he tells Moe that Barney said that his nasty B.O. interferes with the delicate muscles of Duff. Barney slips on an oil slick and flies through the air after he lands next to a box of fireworks that they set fire to. They realize that this is still not good enough, and they have to do something better. They replace the water in Krusty's seltzer bottle with gasoline, paint a stop light green and expose Homer for radioactivity. It is still not good enough, so they decide to let three trucks go off a cliff to hit a crowd that has gathered for Joe Quimby's 21st annual "Impeach Mayor Quimby" rally. The trucks contain killer bees, glue and Butterfinger Bill's Cut-Rate Nitro. They film the trucks driving off the cliff, but it turns out that Nelson forgot to turn on the camera so nothing was recorded. Bart is angry and tells Nelson that he has done a lot for the computer, but has not received anything back. The crowd hears Bart and starts chasing him, and Nelson films it. Milhouse uploads the tape, and they win the contest. Nelson finally gets his trophy and tells Bart that he will get the computer when he visits him in the hospital.
