- The scenes of Homer playing on a Big piano are a reference to 1988 film Big. Homer performs "Rock Around the Clock".
- Lisa gets the lifetime personal correspondence of Abe. One of the letters was written by English actor Boris Karloff, ordering Abe to stop writing to him. The letter was sent via Western Union.
- Abe gives the family of box of 1918 Libery Head nickels. According to Abe, John D. Rockefeller threw them from a Zeppelin.
- Homer steps on the keys of a big piano such as in the 1988 film Big. He also sings the famous single "Rock Around the Clock" by Bill Haley & His Comets.
