Great work
Hey, I would just like to thank you for all your great work recently. Keep this up and you'll be in with a chance to win the Golden Homer this month. Thanks, The Solar Dragon 16:48, 4 December 2011 (EST)
- Really? No kidding? This is really great. Thank you, Solar Dragon. --Freddie (Talk) 05:31, 5 December 2011 (EST)
Question ... ?
Did you talk to anybody before you started cutting guest star articles to the bare bones? I'm just trying to understand what you're up to. If the idea is to keep the focus of the articles on the show, that's fine, and that's an ideal I've been guilty of straying from myself. I freely admit to having a tendency toward long-windedness at the keyboard. :-) All the same, a couple of extra facts about the guest are fine ... just enough to answer the question of "Why was it such a big deal that the person appeared on the show?" Anyway, good to have you here; I'm just curious about where you're coming from in making the changes. As for where I'm coming from, please have a look at the Project Guest Stars and Project Self Voicers pages. -- Mythigator 20:48, 10 December 2011 (EST)
- You have a huge point and I guess I kind of agree, but only kind of. You see it isn't related to The Simpsons if you're telling what else they have been in. Do you see where I am going with this? --Freddie (Talk) 17:54, 10 December 2011 (EST)
- Perfectly. But that doesn't mean you have to strike out EVERYTHING that's non-Simpsons-related. Another thing to consider is that while there is certainly some fat to be trimmed, a fair amount of work goes into putting those facts together. Unilaterally deleting a bunch of material with no explanation gives the impression of a lack of respect for whoever did the work in the first place. However, now that I know what you're doing and what you're trying to accomplish, it's cool. The only criticism I'll offer is that you could be a little less heavy-handed with the red pen. For example, in the Johnny Carson article, I added back in the fact that he's best known for having hosted The Tonight Show. If someone who doesn't know anything at all about him is wondering "Who the hell is Johnny Carson?" then that little fact, plus appropriate links, gets the crucial information across while maintaining a Simpsons focus. I guess I'm just saying "keep a balance". For an example, I'll do a trim job on the article for Buzz Aldrin, which I wrote, BTW. That should demonstrate what I'm talking about. -- Mythigator 01:15, 11 December 2011 (EST)
- Totally see where you are going with this and I agree. --Freddie (Talk) 10 December 2011, 10:51 (EST)
- Excellent! Thanks for being willing to dialogue about this. Just as a heads-up to you, I am also going to add back in one fact about Theodore Roosevelt. The other trimming you did there was just fine, though. Happy editing and talk to you later, and if you have any questions at all, feel free to drop me a line on my talk page. Peace out (and go 'Nucks!). -- Mythigator 02:22, 11 December 2011 (EST)
- Sweet as! Thanks and I'll try and add back things that they are known for, if you haven't all ready done so :P. --Freddie (Talk) 0:15, 11 December 2011 (EST)
- Don't worry about trying to track them all down systematically; it's fine to just make the changes as you happen to notice them. In the meantime, now that we know what "happy medium" we're aiming for, I'll re-visit some of the other guest star articles I wrote and do some trimming. Have fun and talk to you later! -- Mythigator 09:22, 12 December 2011 (EST)

Capitalism
I apologize if you've just seen someone else doing it, but making an edit solely to change the capitalism of {{W|Example}} is a bad edit, and may be reverted due to this. --Will (talk) 18:59, 13 December 2011 (EST)
- Sorry Will, I get really confused with "w" and "W". --Freddie (Talk) 16:04, 13 December 2011 (EST)
- I don't think capitalism is the word you were looking for Will, and although it's not encouraged I don't think it would ever be reverted.--Cook879 08:00, 16 December 2011 (EST)
- It doesn't matter! They're both the same template after all. It doesn't matter which way it is. Solar Dragon (Talk • Contribs.) 08:19, 16 December 2011 (EST)

Template:Ch and [[X (character)|X]]
Hi, In these circumstances, The Ch template should be used as it shortens the code on the page. Less code is generally better for loading times etc. Could you not make edits changing the template to the less efficient version? Thanks, The Solar Dragon 04:53, 18 December 2011 (EST)
- Sorry 'bout that, forgot to close Nowiki tags. Also, Interwiki links, such as [[sv:13 Euclid Street]] allow links in the sidebar to pages of other languages on our wiki network. So, could you leave these in too please. Thanks, The Solar Dragon 04:53, 18 December 2011 (EST)
- And please leave {{DEFAULTSORT:}}s in place as well. These are needed for pages starting with "The", "A", "An" and punctuation to put them in the right places in categories. Thanks.--Cook879 07:32, 18 December 2011 (EST)
Paul Anka
Nice work on the Paul Anka article. That one's been in need of some tightening up for a long time, so it's good to see it finally sorted out. -- Mythigator 08:57, 22 December 2011 (EST)
- Thanks! I'm trying to work super hard on the guest stars. --Freddie (Talk) 23:50, 22 December 2011 (EST)

File:Homer Simpson's head.png
Hi, were you planning on doing something with this as it is currently unused? Thanks, The Solar Dragon 05:26, 3 February 2012 (EST)
You can now replace "for the character, see (link)" with {{Gstarnav}} :).--Cook879 15:45, 3 February 2012 (EST)
Image needed
I noticed on some of your new articles that you didn't add any images to them, which is fine, but if you don't have an image you should really add the {{Image needed}} template at the tops of the pages. (Unless the character is only mentioned, or something.) Otherwise, you're doing a great job! :) --Nick97 (talk ~ contribs) 11:04, 5 February 2012 (EST)
Suppress redirect
Hi, since I added you to the Trusted user group, you have the ability to not make redirects when moving pages. If you tick the box "suppress redirect", the redirect will not be made. This can be done with images as well and it means that the admins don't have to delete the unnecessary redirects afterwards. If you do this, just remember to change the links afterwards. Thank you, The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 03:42, 10 February 2012 (EST)
- Ah, that's how. Also, thank you so much for adding be to the Trusted group. This really means a lot to me. And happy birthday :D. --Fred (Talk) 00:51, 10 February 2012 (EST)
Larry
Can I move Larry the barfly.png to Larry.png, since there are 30 links on the Larry.png link? WebkinzMania 21:47, 11 February 2012 (EST)
- Yes, please do. I realised when I stumbled on an appearance episode page. Thanks. --Fred (Talk) 18:50, 11 February 2012 (EST)
- Moved.--Cook879 07:02, 12 February 2012 (EST)

A few things I deleted
Hi, just explaining my recent deletion spree to you. I deleted categories that I didn't think would ever get above one or two articles due to the obscurity of the topics. I also deleted several articles, mainly as they go against Wikisimpsons:Notability. However, if you disagree with the policy, or the categories, please feel free to contribute to Wikisimpsons:Wiki discussion where I have opened discussions about both of these. Thank you, (Talk - Contribs.) 17:59, 20 February 2012 (EST)
- Ah, okay. Nope I think it was best you deleted a few things I created. Thank you. --Fred (Talk) 20:48, 20 February 2012 (EST)
Mockumentaries?
Just wondering, how do you figure the "Mockumentary" genre for Ned's cable series and the FOX special with Wiggum? I did give the genre some thought when I wrote these two. It's my understanding that the mockumentary genre applies to something that's intended as a spoof/gag/parody/etc. by the people who made it (as in This Is Spinal Tap). That's certainly not the case for Ned's show, and most likely not for Wiggum's, so again, after some careful thought, I went with "Documentary" for the genre when I wrote the articles. Is there some other definition of "mockumentary" I'm not aware of? -- Mythigator 13:15, 27 February 2012 (EST)
- Probably no other definition for mockumentary. Well I'll change them back. I just thought because The Simpsons was a comedy series, so I thought that would imply comics as well and usually when something is a comedy-documentary it is a mockumentary. --Fred (Talk) 13:35, 27 February 2012 (EST)
- True about both the show and the comics being comedies, but you gotta look at things from an in-universe perspective. Ned was attempting to make a serious documentary. It went off the rails due to events outside his control, but since he later got an award, that means it did end up being taken as a serious documentary. The FOX network in the "Simpsons-verse" is edgier and more eccentric than its real-life counterpart, and has produced things like Frame Up, World's Deadliest Executions and No-Pants Island. When you look at things from that perspective, When Good Snacks Go Bad fits right into the mix. -- Mythigator 17:15, 27 February 2012 (EST)
Welcoming anon users
Hi, when welcoming anon users (IPs) can you use the {{Welcomeanon|Article they edited|Your user name}} template please as this includes links to signing up etc. Thanks, Solar Dragon (Talk • Contribs.) 07:58, 28 February 2012 (EST)
- Oh, sorry. I'll try to remember. Thank you. --Fred (Talk) 13:22, 28 February 2012 (EST)
- Anyone can welcome a new user. You don't have to be an admin or a rollback; the only qualifications are friendliness and a willingness to answer questions. Thanks for pitching in! -- Mythigator 19:01, 28 February 2012 (EST)

Crew template
Hi, I just made a few changes to the Crew template which you can see under infoboxes. I'm about to update the create template too. If you don't understand anything about it, just ask. It should make it clearer for comic crew members, game crew members, book crew members etc. Thanks, Solar Dragon (Talk • Contribs.) 08:22, 6 March 2012 (EST)
- Okay. I was hoping someone would create something like this. Thank you. --Fred (Talk) 16:21, 6 March 2012 (EST)

User pages
Unless you're reverting vandalism, please don't make changes on other people's user pages. Thanks. -- Mythigator 08:32, 14 March 2012 (EDT)
- Minor link changes don't matter so there's no need to make them. Also, see Wikisimpsons:User pages for other reasons you are allowed to edit another user's user page. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 09:02, 14 March 2012 (EDT)
- Thanks for the refresher on the guidelines regarding user pages. I'd forgotten the part about it being OK to fix redlinks. -- Mythigator 13:16, 14 March 2012 (EDT)
Jon Lovitz
Hi, I only just noticed now but you added Jon Lovitz to the season 24 guest stars template. Where is your source for him as it's not on his article. Thanks, The Solar Dragon 15:34, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
- If it's the thing about Artie Ziff returning, Lovitz hasn't actually been confirmed to be voicing him again yet though so we can't go saying he will until he's confirmed. (Talk - Contribs.) 15:36, 16 March 2012 (EDT)
Joining IRC
Just wondering, why can't you go on IRC? Apart from technical difficulties. | | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 02:15, 20 March 2012 (EDT)
- Not long ago, my computer was very slow. It is all good now, so it should be able to work next time :D. But I need to be entirely honest now, I don't really know how to get on IRC :P. --Fred (Talk • Contribs.) 02:26, 20 March 2012 (EDT)
- You can either download a client (if you use FireFox, you can download ChatZilla, alternatively, there is mIRC. If you don't want to download anything, you can always use the Freenode gateway. Enter in your nickname, enter in the channel name "#wikisimpsons" and enter in the captcha and join. If you go via the IRC client, you would have to join the server and channel before you can chat. Which I can take you through if you so wish. (Talk - Contribs.) 02:31, 20 March 2012 (EDT)
- Okay, great! I'm a little fussy with downloading stuff. I'm more than happy for you to take through it. Thank you. --Fred (Talk • Contribs.) 02:41, 20 March 2012 (EDT)
- Great. If you do download ChatZilla, you have to restart Firefox, but it's quite easy and quick. If you do use ChatZilla, just type "/server freenode", then "/join #wikisimpsons" after you get on freenode. | | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 02:44, 20 March 2012 (EDT)
