Question ... ?

Did you talk to anybody before you started cutting guest star articles to the bare bones? I'm just trying to understand what you're up to. If the idea is to keep the focus of the articles on the show, that's fine, and that's an ideal I've been guilty of straying from myself. I freely admit to having a tendency toward long-windedness at the keyboard. :-) All the same, a couple of extra facts about the guest are fine ... just enough to answer the question of "Why was it such a big deal that the person appeared on the show?" Anyway, good to have you here; I'm just curious about where you're coming from in making the changes. Perfectly. But that doesn't mean you have to strike out EVERYTHING that's non-Simpsons-related. Another thing to consider is that while there is certainly some fat to be trimmed, a fair amount of work goes into putting those facts together. Unilaterally deleting a bunch of material with no explanation gives the impression of a lack of respect for whoever did the work in the first place. However, now that I know what you're doing and what you're trying to accomplish, it's cool. The only criticism I'll offer is that you could be a little less heavy-handed with the red pen. For example, in the Johnny Carson article, I added back in the fact that he's best known for having hosted The Tonight Show. If someone who doesn't know anything at all about him is wondering "Who the hell is Johnny Carson?" then that little fact, plus appropriate links, gets the crucial information across while maintaining a Simpsons focus. I guess I'm just saying "keep a balance". For an example, I'll do a trim job on the article for Buzz Aldrin, which I wrote, BTW. Template:Ch and [[X (character)|X]]

Hi, In these circumstances, The Ch template should be used as it shortens the code on the page. Less code is generally better for loading times etc. Could you not make edits changing the template to the less efficient version? Thanks, The Solar Dragon 04:53, 18 December 2011 (EST)

Image needed

I noticed on some of your new articles that you didn't add any images to them, which is fine, but if you don't have an image you should really add the {{Image needed}} template at the tops of the pages. Suppress redirect

Hi, since I added you to the Trusted user group, you have the ability to not make redirects when moving pages. If you tick the box "suppress redirect", the redirect will not be made. This can be done with images as well and it means that the admins don't have to delete the unnecessary redirects afterwards. If you do this, just remember to change the links afterwards. A few things I deleted

Hi, just explaining my recent deletion spree to you. I deleted categories that I didn't think would ever get above one or two articles due to the obscurity of the topics. I also deleted several articles, mainly as they go against Wikisimpsons:Notability. Mockumentaries?

Just wondering, how do you figure the "Mockumentary" genre for Ned's cable series and the FOX special with Wiggum? I did give the genre some thought when I wrote these two. It's my understanding that the mockumentary genre applies to something that's intended as a spoof/gag/parody/etc. by the people who made it (as in This Is Spinal Tap). That's certainly not the case for Ned's show, and most likely not for Wiggum's, so again, after some careful thought, I went with "Documentary" for the genre when I wrote the articles. Is there some other definition of "mockumentary" I'm not aware of? -- Mythigator 13:15, 27 February 2012 (EST)

Probably no other definition for mockumentary. Well I'll change them back. I just thought because The Simpsons was a comedy series, so I thought that would imply comics as well and usually when something is a comedy-documentary it is a mockumentary. --Fred (Talk) 13:35, 27 February 2012 (EST)

True about both the show and the comics being comedies, but you gotta look at things from an in-universe perspective. Ned was attempting to make a serious documentary. It went off the rails due to events outside his control, but since he later got an award, that means it did end up being taken as a serious documentary. The FOX network in the "Simpsons-verse" is edgier and more eccentric than its real-life counterpart, and has produced things like Frame Up, World's Deadliest Executions and No-Pants Island. When you look at things from that perspective, When Good Snacks Go Bad fits right into the mix. -- Mythigator 17:15, 27 February 2012 (EST)

You can either download a client (if you use FireFox, you can download ChatZilla, alternatively, there is mIRC. If you don't want to download anything, you can always use the Freenode gateway. Enter in your nickname, enter in the channel name "#wikisimpsons" and enter in the captcha and join. If you go via the IRC client, you would have to join the server and channel before you can chat.
