[[Homer]], [[Comic Book Guy]] and [[Chief Wiggum]] are competing in "[[The Gorge in the Gorge]]" binge-eating competition. Homer wins, after forcing himself to eat the last hot dog on his plate. However, as a result of the binge, Homer's brain has, "in layman's terms", exploded. Meanwhile, [[Krusty]] rushes off from the contest to [[Springfield University]], where he is set to receive an honorary degree. However, when it gets to giving Krusty his diploma, the university has run out of honorary degrees, and so quickly hands him a substitute, which to [[Dean Peterson]]'s surprise turns out to be a real doctors degree.

In the meantime Dean Peterson tells Krusty that he has an actual doctorate, and due to the other doctors being out of action, it's down to Krusty to treat the sick and wounded.
