Simpsons: The Musical is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #106.

Plot[edit]

"The Simpson family go to Capital City where they end up starring in a musical about their everyday lives. But playing themselves on stage every day begins to take a toll on the family."

Plot[edit]

Bart is on the phone to Milhouse, who is in Capital City because his mother has a new boyfriend, Seth, who lives there. Bart misses spending time with Milhouse and asks Marge if he can go and visit him in Capital City but Marge doesn't want him going alone. Homer then comes into the room and mentions that he made an ant farm out of discount glass, and the fire ants escaped. This led to the house needing to be fumigated for a week, so the family decides to go to Capital City after together.

When the family makes it to Capital City, they see that Krusty the Clown is starring in a play, Papa I Hardly Knew Ye! They decide to go see the play but it's a disaster. When Bart and Lisa talk to Krusty after the show, they give Krusty the idea to open a new show in the theater instead of the disaster he is currently starring in. Krusty then holds auditions for new shows, which includes Bees: The Musical, Singing Thru the Pain, and an Abraham Lincoln play by Rainier Wolfcastle. However, Krusty doesn't like any of them either due to them being bad or too expensive. When Bart and Lisa start arguing, Krusty decides to make a musical starring the Simpsons about their daily lives.

Krusty gets furniture shipped from the Simpsons' house for the set and tells the family to come up with their own parody songs for the show. The Simpsons: The Musical officially opens up and Bart sings the show's first song, "The Star-Spangled Banner". This song proves to be a huge hit with the audience, who find it hilarious. The show continues and Lisa sings "My Favorite Stuff". The first showing of the musical was a success and Krusty decides to rent the theater for another six months for the musical.

The family puts on more shows, with Homer singing "I'm Looking Over My Good Wife's Stove". However, playing themselves in the musical starts to take a toll on the family, who become tired of acting out their own lives for an audience. More shows are performed, with Marge performing "Tomorrow", and Maggie even having her own song. After the show ends, the family struggles to talk to each other, having gotten everything out on stage. Bart then comes up with an idea and puts on an Australian accent. He convinces the rest of the family to put on new personalities when they're not performing. Bart becomes an Australian hunter who was raised by dingoes, Marge becomes a "sexy alien woman" from Star Trek, Homer becomes a sheriff, Lisa becomes a French artist, and Maggie becomes a dog.

A week later, a group of actors from the Off-Off-Broadway theater community wanted to welcome the family's hit show to Capital City. The Simpsons then scare the actors off by acting weird because of their new personalities. The family then decides that they want to just go back to being themselves and quit the show. After the Simpsons quit, Krusty becomes bankrupt and decides to start Bankruptcy: The Musical.
