Martin Prince, then the student-body president, got the idea for Springfield Elementary's Casino Night from an episode of Saved by the Bell. Principal Skinner said it was always on too late for him to watch.

In the Saved by the Bell episode, a casino night was held at the school, and it ended in disaster when it was revealed that the chips had no monetary value. The same thing happened at Springfield Elementary's casino night.
