Synopsis[edit]
- ""Homer's lifelong dream of becoming his own boss comes true at last, but his new boss is a lot harder on him than he ever imagined. And while it is all work and no play, Homer spends less time with his family, which becomes surprisingly difficult for both Bart and Grampa.""
Plot[edit]
Bart is playing videogames with Milhouse when he tells him that he always wins because he cheats. Homer goes to work, where he discovers that his coworkers have new jobs. He finds out that they fired half of the staff and those who remain have two tasks, and Homer becomes his own supervisor. Milhouse shows Bart an article about cheating from Whatapedia, where he learns how he can get a high school equivalency exam. Homer enjoys his two roles and Bart leaves school. The next day, Bart forces Homer to seek a job, though he really just wants to play video games. Homer begins having difficulties controlling his two roles, and Bart gets a job as Duffman's sidekick. Bart soon gets tired of the job and gives all the free samples that he was going to give away to Rev. Lovejoy. The Duff Corporation has to pay to have the church fumigated, and Bart is fired. Bart starts to work as Booberella's assistant, but after he glues her coffin shut, he is dismissed. Homer has tired himself out controlling how much he works. Bart is now trying to work for the police, but he gets scared and quits.
That evening, Lisa talks with Homer and realizes he is pushing himself too hard, and he must quit one of his jobs tomorrow. Homer visits Mr. Burns to resign as safety inspector, but because he has the lowest salary of all of the workers, Burns fires Homer and hires Bart as his replacement. At the dinner table, Lisa talks about what happened at school, and Bart to realize that he misses school. The next day, Homer gets Bart fired by throwing him in Burns' face. Bart goes back to school and gives his diplomas to Willie's dog.
