Cultural references
- Homer is described as "thinks he's on The Price Is Right", which is a long-running game show that airs in the USA and has also had versions in many other countries. In the U.S.A. version, trips are a very common prize offered to contestants, referenced when Homer asks if he'll win a trip to Nova Scotia for guessing right.
- Invasion of the Body Snatchers: Martin's theory that Jimbo's cap hides an alien life form and "We're all in danger!" is reminiscent of Kevin McCarthy's character in the original film and in his cameo appearance in the 1978 remake.
Trivia
- Bart's theory about Jimbo's cap is that Jimbo has a parasitic twin, which is a real medical phenomenon.
Continuity
- Principal Skinner implies that he considers Women's Studies to be one of the worst kinds of knowledge, but not as bad as what he thinks might be in Jimbo's head. Skinner's sexist outlook is also seen in the television episode "Girls Just Want to Have Sums".
- Lisa finds it appealing that Jimbo might have a bald spot. Her attraction to bad-boy types is also seen in "Lisa's Date with Density" (in this case, to Nelson Muntz).
- SPOILER ALERT: The comic story Inside Man, which also appears in Jimbo Jones #1, shows that Bart's theory is correct and Martin's is partially correct.
