Plot

The producers of World's Funniest Surveillance Videos went through the video tapes they have received and discovered that there is plenty of funny clips with Homer and they get an idea which they present to the TV executives at FOX. They want to film Homer around the clock and make him a star in an hour-long show. The producer contacts Mayor Quimby and after a town meeting without the Simpson family they decided to begin filming Homer and set up hidden cameras around Springfield in return for the residents getting a bundle of money. The series will also not be brodcast in Springfield to reduce the possibility that Homer discovers that he is on TV. They start to film and the producers love what Homer does. After the first episode of The Homer Show was broadcast it got a high rating. Everyone in town starts fawning up to Homer, and Apu and Moe advertise their businesses when they talk with Homer to get free television advertising. Homer is happy that his friends care so much about him. After a few weeks Bart accidentally meet the people in the TV van, and he finds out the truth. They bribe him to keep it quiet and Homer is getting tired of being so popular among his friends. When he gets chased by Springfield's entire population so that they can be seen in the picture with Homer he flees home and the producers become worried. Marge also thinks there are also strange things happening. Homer decides to stay in bed for five days and to save the show the TV producers go to the Simpsons and tell them the truth. Homer learns that he is famous and they ask him to continue as before and Homer decides to return to his old self in order to entertain his millions of fans. However one problem occurs as Homer tries to be funny on purpose, which put off the viewers. They cancelled the TV show and everything returns to its old self. Soon after Homer once again has a funny incident, which was filmed by Willie who planned to send the tape to ABC.
