Instead of deleting any and all information on talk pages, they should be archived by an administrator (or in the case of a user talk page, the user) where they can be accessed by anyone. When archiving, the entire page must be archived by moving the page as to keep the edit history intact.

Talk pages should not have the comments removed or be blanked. Instead, they should be archived. This is moving the current page to a new location, normally Talk:Y/Archive X or for user talk pages User talk:Y/Archive X Where Y is the article/user name and X is the archive number.

Archiving a page[edit]

  1. Click on the move button.
  2. Rename the page Talk:Y/Archive X or for user talk pages User talk:Y/Archive X Where Y is the article/user name and X is the archive number.
  3. Remake the old page, adding in the Talkheader and any other talk page templates.
  4. Link to the archive in some way.
