Plot

When the family gets robbed, there is no money left for their family vacation. They go to a savings seminar to help with their problems. They find out that they can get cheap plane tickets to anywhere when there isn't anyone occuping the seats. The flight they go onto is heading for Tokyo. They start buying various things that cost a fortune there. Then they're stuck with $10,000.00 (in Japanese currency), but they need that money to get home. It then gets blown away in the wind. They try to earn money buy gutting fish, but on the TV they see a game show that can grant you a wish if you win. They go the game show to win plane tickets back to Springfield, but to get them, they have to grab them off a bridge that's above a volcano. They get the tickets, but fall in the lava, which turns out to be a non-lava mixture. When taking off, Godzilla attacks the plane, but they get away from him.

  • The episode title is a intended or unintended spoof of the Pere Ubu song title "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo".
  • An item named "Skittlebrau" can been seen in the 33¢ store. The item was made up by Homer in Bart Star, however Apu claimed there was no such thing.
