First appearance: "Loan-a Lisa"

"P.U." is an episode of The Itchy & Scratchy Show. Bart and Lisa watch it in the family's station wagon.

Plot[edit]

Scratchy gets married, to enthusiastic applause from the cats attending the wedding. Scratchy and his wife buy a fixer-upper home and settle into a contented married life of working on their house, picnicking and cloud-watching on a nearby hill, and growing old together in the house after the renovations are finished.

Years later, an elderly Scratchy and Mrs. Scratchy re-visit their picnic spot on the hill. Itchy suddenly appears with a machine gun, opens fire and shoots the two of them with bullets, killing them on the spot. Itchy later visits their graves and blows them up with dynamite. The ghosts of Scratchy and Mrs. Scratchy float up out of the crater, and Itchy uses a canister vacuum cleaner to suck them out of the air. Itchy removes the bag from the vacuum's canister, and the ghosts can be seen as lumps moving around in the bag. Itchy then sets the bag on fire. The ghosts scream as the bag burns up and Itchy warms his hands by the fire.

Behind the Laughter[edit]

  • "P.U." puns the title of the 2009 animated film Up, with the same music of the movie and also mimics several of the scenes. Scratchy and his wife are seen putting money into a jar labelled "Parody Falls", a reference to Paradise Falls, the place Carl wanted to visit in Up.
  • The clouds resemble Pixar characters Mike Wazowski from the Monsters, Inc. franchise, Buzz Lightyear from the Toy Story franchise and WALL-E from WALL-E.
