• The "Doomsday Bart" stage is a reference to the Mad Max film series.
• The theme heard throughout most of the "Baby Bart" stage is based on the Mister Softee jingle.

Trivia

• This is the first home console video game of The Simpsons that features audio dialogue from the show's cast.
• The game has a debug mode which can be activated by pressing a series of buttons during the title screen:
  • Mega Drive/Genesis version: Left, Down, A, A, B, Left, Up, Down [1]
  • SNES version: A, A, A, X, X, B, B, Y [2]
• An early prototype of the SNES version was leaked online. Differences to the final game include less detailed graphics, different music, missing cutscenes and an ending screen which says "You won! You are a true Bart Simpson". [3]

Continuity

• The appearance of Mt. Splashmore and Homer getting stuck in one of the tubes is based on the events of the episode "Brush with Greatness".
• Native American Ice Cream from "Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie" makes a reappearance.
• Principal Skinner bends over making himself a target for Bart's projectile in the same way as he did in the episode "Duffless".

Goofs

• Janey Powell appears with yellow skin.
• Janey and Ralph Wiggum are part of the Fourth Grade class photo, but it has been established in the series' continuity that they are in the Second Grade.
